READY, SET, FLY!
In the Christian Science Sunday School I have learned that God is our Father-Mother. I like to think about that, especially when my parents are not with me. Then I feel close to God and know that He is there to help me.
This past summer, it really helped our family to think about God as our Mother. We were moving to another house, and in the middle of our move, my little brother, Jonathan, came home with five bird babies in his T-shirt. They were swallows. Jonathan had found the little birds huddling in the grass. He saw that their nest had been destroyed and no mother bird was around. For about an hour he watched from a distance to see if the birds' parents would return, but they never did. A couple of cats appeared, though. Jonathan chased them away. That's when he decided to take the birds home.
The little swallows looked very weak. Our mom wrapped them in a blanket and put them in a big moving box, where they were protected from our cat.
