HEALED THROUGH LISTENING TO GOD

Some years ago, a few days before I was to make an eight-hour drive to be part of a graduation ceremony, I began to have a severe earache. The graduation was a special event for me, as I'd completed a three-year training course to be a Christian Science nurse. I didn't want to miss it.

I've always used prayer for healing because I've found that it is an effective form of healthcare. All my life I've turned to God, and He has met every need. In my prayer that day I acknowledged God as my Creator — that I was His likeness, therefore spiritual. God being perfect, His creation must also be perfect. God is Love and could never for one instant inflict pain on His child.

I reasoned that God was the only power. That He filled all space, and therefore there was no space in my thought for pain — only for love. I'd felt that I'd been listening to God by responding to a desire to serve Him and help others as a Christian Science nurse. This motive felt pure, so I reasoned this work could bring only blessing. No power on earth could stop its completion.
