THE CHRIST— YOUR HEALING CONNECTION WITH GOD

Our sixth-grade grandson Brian went to camp for the first time last summer. Because he wanted to stay in touch with his mom and dad while he was away, they bought him a cellphone. That way, if he felt alone or scared, he could call for help.

As soon as Brian arrived at camp—Surprise!—the counselors took the cellphone away from him. Once he thought about it, of course, he understood why cellphones were off-limits. Can you imagine how hectic things would get if 200 kids all had cellphones? "No way," the counselors said. "If you want to stay in touch with your family, write a letter!"

But there was something good about not having a cellphone. It made Brian go directly to God. If he began to miss his parents, or if he had a bump or a scary moment, he got in touch with the Father-Mother who's always with each one of us. With the Best Friend who's always at our side, and on our side.
