HEALED AFTER A FALL

Last summer, I was climbing down a ladder into the cockpit of my boat.

Coming down facing forward, instead of the standard way, I slipped and fell onto the deck, landing on my shoulder. Momentarily I was stunned, and when I regained my composure, I was in great pain and couldn't move.

It felt as if I'd both broken my collarbone and dislocated a shoulder. Lying on the deck, I reached out to God, asking for help. Some of Mary Baker Eddy's words from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures came to me: "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind . . ." (p. 424). I trusted this statement and reasoned that God didn't know anything about chance or accidents in His completely spiritual creation. And being so connected to Him, I knew I could experience only harmony. Finally, I was able to stand up, get off the boat, and get in my car. This was no small task, since at that time, one of my arms was hanging by my side. But I was able to handle the steering wheel safely with my other arm.
