INJURED FOOT AND LEG CONDITION HEALED

About 12 years ago, while playing basketball with some friends in our driveway, I turned my foot badly. I heard a cracking noise and felt intense pain. Two thoughts immediately came to mind: "Be not afraid," and "All is well." These thoughts— both echoing the Bible's promise of healing—inspired and comforted me, and had the instant effect of reminding me that I could trust God for all the help I needed.

I love reading the Bible, especially about the Christian healing ministry of Jesus, and I've come to realize that it is possible to experience healing through prayer alone, as Jesus demonstrated on many occasions. Through my study of Christian Science, I recognized those two ideas as elements of how to treat an injury through spiritual means.

By standing up to the pain, I felt I was following Jesus' command not to be fearful. Instead of focusing on the injury, I reassured myself with God's law of divine Love. This law, as the textbook of Christian Science states, "... should relieve our minds from the depressing thought that we have transgressed a material law and must of necessity pay the penalty" (Science and Health, p. 384).
