Next in our biweekly series on how people have nurtured their public practice of Christian Science.

GOD'S GUIDANCE ALL THE WAY

PRAYER COMPELLED ME TO MOVE to California after college. I was hoping to get a master's degree in financial management in the arts—the only one of its kind in the country. Soon, I learned that the program was waitlisted for four years. So, trying to determine my next steps, I worked in a variety of other fields, and continued to pray for guidance.

One day, I saw an advertisement for a food service supervisor at a Christian Science nursing facility in the city where I was living. I applied and ended up working there for over a year, until I left to get more management experience elsewhere.

I spent the next year making very little progress with my career goals, so I again turned to prayer. After months of unemployment, the same Christian Science nursing facility called to ask if I could do some temporary holiday work in the food service department. I was willing to do this, until my "real job" came along.
