'I AM THE LORD, YOUR PHYSICIAN'

Some years ago I suddenly had serious heart trouble and temporarily wasn't able to go to work. The doctor I consulted prescribed medication and had me take tests. Twice the testing equipment malfunctioned.

For me, this was a nudge to look for another kind of physician whose "tools" were always intact: God. In the Bible God assures us: "I am the Lord, your physician" (Ex. 15:26, Luther Bible). I knew what was possible by turning to God. My mother had been healed of tuberculosis, after the doctors had given her up. My sister and I had regularly attended Christian Science Sunday School and had learned about the truths of the divine laws of life. But then had followed a number of years when I prayed only in emergencies.

Now, I was in a tight spot. And I had a deep desire to go back to what I'd learned in earlier years. I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner. He assured me that divine Love heals, and that he would help me. His loving words inspired my confidence. Slowly I began to understand that my connection with my Father-Mother God could never be interrupted. It was always intact because God would never let go of me.
