PRAYER'S PROTECTIVE AND HEALING POWER

What a glorious day I was having. I had arrived at a hotel to spend the night with my daughter, her husband, my granddaughter, and other good friends. We were to attend a Christian Science Students Association meeting the next day.

I had spent the previous months prayerfully in search of a deeper understanding of the truths underlying spiritual healing. As I continue to study the teachings of Christian Science in Mary Baker Eddy's writings, I find them to be clear and simple, explaining how Christ Jesus accomplished his marvelous healings. Jesus told those listening to him that anyone wanting to do these same works must "take up his cross and follow me." I'd been praying and studying to learn more about what that means.

Mary Baker Eddy also brought out the paramount importance of love—selfless, pure, universal. I've found that more love is always the answer to conquering every challenge, and this includes loving oneself as well as others. In order to do this, I'm seeing that it involves expressing more of the Christly nature that was so evident in the life and work of the Master.
