'I COULD BREATHE FREELY AGAIN'
For some years I had a growth in one of my nasal passages, which gradually increased in size, making breathing through my nose a hassle during the day and nearly impossible while I was sleeping.
I've always turned to prayer in Christian Science for solutions to all sorts of difficulties. But even though I prayed off and on about this condition, I didn't seem to make much progress. When I did pray, I remember trying to better understand that because I was a complete idea of divine Mind or God, who is all-good, nothing offensive could be part of my being. Mary Baker Eddy elucidated this point when she wrote, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 463).
At one point, just before going to my annual Christian Science association meeting in November of last year, the growth loosened up, and I was able to breathe through that nostril for the first time in a long time. But the growth hadn't reduced in size—only moved in location. While this was a sign of progress, resulting from my previous prayers, I knew I needed to pray until the difficulty was completely resolved.
