THROUGH A SPIRITUAL LENS

SKYSCAPE

Modern architecture helps me see the world around me from a new perspective. It happened most recently with this photo, which I took in Millennium Square in Bristol, England. Looking at this spherical building, I noticed that each panel showed a slightly different image of the sky.

This reminded me that too often, everyday life feels disturbingly fragmented, even distorted. It's hard to find quality time to concentrate on a project, read a book, or relax with a friend.

After taking the photo, I sat down and began to think more deeply about the reflection in the building, and about the ways in which different images can be brought together to express spiritual wholeness. I began to see each panel as expressing its own unique vision of Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love, synonymous terms that Mary Baker Eddy used to define God (Science and Health, p. 465). Put them together, and the vision, the picture, becomes really powerful. The seemingly disconnected panels—our daily activities—can blend to represent synergy and mind-stretching possibilities for achieving good.
