A HEALING OF IVY POISONING

This past summer, after clearing vegetation from our back hill, I was soon dealing with an aggressive case of poison ivy on my arms and legs. When I first noticed irritation on one arm, I started praying for myself. Praying to God for healing of physical difficulties of every sort has been my healthcare choice for nearly three decades and has proved to be most effective. Relying on my Creator to be my Physician is a natural outcome of my intimate relationship with Him.

I acknowledged God's constant and harmonious government of His creation, which naturally included the events in my life, and precluded whatever might disturb my peace, including irritation in my thinking, which I recalled feeling.

The Bible says that "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). I thought deeply about how every plant on the hill expressed the goodness of God, His grace, love, peace, harmony, and beauty. And I remembered a phrase from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, "... nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God" (p. 228). I affirmed that neither the plants, nor I, nor anything in God's kingdom could possibly possess, transmit, or receive anything poisonous, because we are all created by God, who is entirely good.
