THROUGH A SPIRITUAL LENS

PURE JOY

That's what I saw in front of me as I shot this photo. The other parents and I were caught up in the fun of watching our three little girls enthusiastically play the piano. It didn't seem to matter what keys on the piano they were playing—each joyously played her part, and their individual modern piano improvisations seemed to flow together with their laughter and fun.

As I watched, I couldn't help thinking about how much our little girls—all home with us eight months from China—have blossomed. It's been precious to watch each girl develop and discover new things. And then it struck me — in God's eyes, we are each this precious to Him, the evidence of His joy. God is looking at each one of His children as complete, talented, shining with distinct individual gifts that bless each other and don't conflict.

Watching our little girls play with such freedom and delight, I couldn't help but be reminded of what Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health: "All that God imparts moves in accord with Him, reflecting goodness and power" (p. 515). Whether we're playing as part of a musical trio, a sports team, an office or a family, God adores our unique role in His household, and helps us shine.
