HEALED OF BACK PAIN

Some years ago, I found myself stuck in bed with a back problem, unable to walk, and in extreme pain.

After several days of suffering, one morning a friend stopped by out of concern, and left some pain medication. I had never felt the need to resort to medicine in the past, because I had always relied on prayer in Christian Science. Later that morning, a family member very wisely made the comment that if I could heal this pain mentally, through Christian Science treatment, I would never again have the same condition, or the fear of it. That idea appealed to me immensely, so in my heart I made the commitment to stand up to the aggressiveness of the discomfort and look the fear of pain squarely in the face through prayer.

That seemed like a tall order, however, considering how I felt. First, I needed to confront the concern that I couldn't possibly help myself, because I couldn't even think straight! But I refused to give consent to that assertion, trusting that God could and would guide me out of that fear, because nothing is impossible to Him.
