LETTERS

Reading the item of interest "More parents are using drive time as spiritual time" in the Sentinel of October 17, 2005 ["Commitment"], reminded me of the time when our children were young. We often travelled by car, sometimes on journeys of several days and also on short trips to school or town. All the trips provided opportunities to pray.

Often the children would see a dog running along the road and be distressed about its being lost or in danger from the traffic. We would assure them that God was caring for each one of His ideas. Sometimes there would be a raging bushfire, so we would claim the truth that there is no destructive action where God is. We all learned to try "bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (II Cor. 10:5).

I am grateful for all the prayerful thought that has gone into every Sentinel since it was first published. I have seen it evolve from what seemed to me as a child to be a very adult all-print (no pictures!) magazine to the colourful, topical publication it is today. I love the way the Sentinel addresses directly the needs of the hour.
