THROUGH A SPIRITUAL LENS
DAWN OF LIGHT
It was Sunday morning, following a daylong snowstorm that had blanketed everything around us in a thick soft white layer. After getting up, I walked out into the yard and around our house to snap some pictures for my son, who was abroad at the time. Stomping through the knee-deep snow, I stopped to look up from below at the branches of our peach tree. Just then, the sun started peeking through the clouds. I was in awe at the beauty of this moment—and had my digital camera ready to capture it.
To me, this picture symbolizes the light of spiritual understanding dawning in our consciousness—when, in search of answers, we look up to the Divine and catch a glimpse of Truth. I thought of the shepherds in the fields, who were roused by a heavenly light shining on them, and followed it to the manger where Jesus lay—"the human herald of Christ, Truth" (Science and Health, p. vii).
