MY ROAD TO A SATISFYING CAREER
A friend of mine commented on my CV (résumé) a while ago, that it looked as if everything I had done was geared toward the job I have now. And it is true, it all fits—my studies, interships, publications, presentations, and jobs. The fun thing is that at any given point in my career, I had only faint ideas of where my next steps would lead me. And it has turned out that God had larger strides and higher ways "in Mind."
For example, when I graduated from university, I earnestly tried to listen to God to know what I should do. I sought to follow the Biblical command, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Ps. 46:10). I've learned that my receptivity to God is best when I minimize any interfering signals such as fear, limitations, and preconceived notions about the career path I should follow or the country in which I should work. So I asked God where I could serve best, and was willing to accept the answer, trusting that this would bless me and others, and that divine Love would unfold amazing options that I had not even known about. As I prayed, I rejoiced in the fact that good was infinite, and therefore I was not competing with others for a slice of the job market.
Trusting, expecting, and believing in the superabundance of divine Love's good for each of us is so powerful. I remembered someone pointing out to me at a career workshop that I was the best me there ever could be—and that's true for everyone. Everybody is unique, needed, and lovingly provided for by our Creator.
