NO ACCIDENTS IN GOD'S KINGDOM

Over many years, I have both experienced and witnessed the effectiveness of prayer as taught in Christian Science through healings of broken bones, pleurisy (medically diagnosed), flu, and grief. Above all, Christian Science has given me stability and confidence, and I have found a life purpose in leaning on the guidance of God, divine Mind. I believe that an answer to our needs can always be found in the Bible and Science and Health.

One November evening in 2002, as it was getting dark, I tripped on a paving stone and fell flat, directly onto my face. What flashed into my thought was a testimony of healing I'd read by someone who had only recently started studying Science and Health. He'd severely injured his ankle, but had thought of this line: "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" (p. 424). He had an immediate healing of the pain and what appeared to be a broken bone.

So when I fell, my first thought was "There are no accidents." By the time I had picked myself up, a police officer was asking if I wanted him to call an ambulance. He was very concerned and insistent. But I assured him I would be all right. My face was cut and bleeding, and his suggested I might want to look in the mirror in his car before deciding. I said, "No, thank you."
