THE BIBLE LESSON BROUGHT HEALING

It was Sunday morning, and instead of getting ready to go to church, I was on the bedroom floor battling intense stomach pains. In addition to the discomfort, there was the added disappointment that it looked as if would have to miss teaching my Sunday School class.

That week's Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly had spoken to me about God's healing presence and the faithful qualities Christ Jesus expressed. I had enjoyed putting together what I anticipated would be a fun and interesting discussion of those ideas for the class.

As I lay there on the floor, the irony of the situation struck me. What would be the point of teaching God's healing presence if it weren't applicable to any human situation, including my own present predicament? That question prodded me to pray more deeply about healing. So, at that moment, I refused to agree that I might not be able to make it to church. Instead, I thought about how much I had learned from each of the six sections that constituted that Bible Lesson, and decided to prayerfully apply what I had learned to this situation.
