SUNDAY vs. SPORTS no competition!

Ever since my brother and I were old enough, my parents made it a rule that we go to Sunday School every week. No excuses. I used to try to resist. But now that I'm older, I've taken my spiritual growth into my own hands. I realized that, ultimately, my life experiences have to do with my own thought, and I had to make my own decisions about what Christian Science meant to me.

As I've grown older, I've appreciated these Sunday classes more. My favorite high-school Sunday School teacher made the class really practical. She'd go around the table and ask everyone in the class to name one victory and one challenge they'd had during the week, and we'd talk about the challenges and help each other find spiritual solutions. I've realized many times that something I discussed in Sunday School made a positive difference in how I approached the week.

But making Christian Science my top priority hasn't always been easy. Two years ago, when I was a sophomore in high school, I made an elite soccer team in my city. I had my heart set on it. That was the biggest step, so far, of my soccer career.
