"THE HEYENDAAL OPEN CIRCLE on Science and Religion, a Local Societies Initiative group, works to promote the science-and-religion dialogue in the Netherlands.

"Members of the Heyendaal Institute Nijmegen—which encourages interdisciplinary research on the relationship among theology and the humanities, social sciences, medical sciences, and natural science at Radboud University, Nijmegen—founded the group in 2003. The [group] serves as a 'thematic umbrella' program to bring together a number of the activities of the Heyendaal Institute Nijmegen, said Palmyre Oomen, group leader and director of the institute's theology and science section. ... Oomen said ..., '[The Heyendaal Open Circle] aims to relate theology to the whole academic field of disciplines.' ...
