THE UNDERSTANDING THAT LEADS TO PEACE
in this centennial of Albert Einstein's "miracle year" of scientific discoveries, it is reassuring to know that Einstein was a man of peace. He once wrote: "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."
Such a statement might pose a logical question: Exactly what kind of understanding is it that settles disputes, restores harmony, and brings peace?
