"Canadian members of the American Scientific Affiliation founded their own science-and-religion association in 1973. Although the two organizations continue to work together on some occasions, they maintain their uniqueness.

"Mann, who is also chairman of the physics department at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, said that the membership of the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation 'tends to be more connected with mainline Protestantism and Catholicism than the American Scientific Affiliation . . . .' He added that the Canadian group is more connected with secular universities than with Christian colleges and that discussion on creation and evolution are—for the most part—not nearly as intense in Canada [as in the US].... 'In general, Canadian Christians have a broad theological outlook that incorporates both pluralistic and multicultural viewpoints,' [Mann said].
