GOD IS THE HEALING POWER

I was working for a government organization and was sick for some time. For more than ten years, I had a recurrent kidney problem, and I would spend many moments in pain. I would wake up throughout the night and listen to shortwave radio.

One day in 1988 I had put on my radio, and instead of going to the usual place on the dial, I got a radio program on Christian Science that was then being broadcast by The Mother Church. I heard someone giving a testimony about how he was healed of an ailment similar to what I had. I woke from the bed, and found myself on my knees praying to God to heal me as He had healed this person.

That evening it was as though I was newborn. When I woke up the following day, I said, "Now, I have to find out what this Christian Science is." So I started looking for a place where there was a church. I came to the Christian Science Reading Room in Nairobi, and a librarian gave me Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. He told me, "Go read this book." I started wondering, Just reading a book—how could it help me?
