A REMARKABLE TURNAROUND

Having had a mother who began her study of Christian Science near the beginning of the 20th century, I have been blessed with many and varied opportunities to prove the effectiveness of its teachings. I would like to tell of one that occurred fairly recently.

There was a time when I was asked to substitute as First Reader in my branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for two weeks. As the first Sunday approached, I found it painful to move, and on Sunday morning I had difficulty dressing and rising from a sitting position. However, I felt it was too late to ask someone else to take my place, so I went to church and managed to get through the service, although I did not sit at any time, for I was doubtful of getting back on my feet.

Soon the situation became drastic; my body began to swell, and the pain of rising from a chair was almost unbearable. I found a large inflamed spot on one leg and thought I must be suffering from a poisonous bite or sting. A Christian Science practitioner was most supportive of me in my prayers for healing, but at first there was little progress in my physical condition.
