I've just read the outstanding May 10 issue on volunteering. I love hearing Reverend Lyndon Harris's thoughts about discipleship, volunteering, and "Go(ing) into the world!" Your writer Marilyn Jones did a beautiful job of letting us have a conversation with Rev. Harris, as he synthesized his views, thoughts, and inspirations from his work in New York City.

Sometimes churches (of any religion, I imagine) get bogged down with "tradition," with "the way it is/was/should be." Church, as I'd like to see it, is something that uplifts, inspires, brings joy and peace—not only individually, but to collective humanity. It is active; it is loving; it is not stale or stuck in a rut. Church is not something whose time has come and gone. Some traditions within a particular church may be ready to be disposed of; however, the need for real, living, giving Church is timeless and needed now.

I love hearing about how spiritual thinkers of every "denomination" are being good Samaritans in their communities, and in our world. Thanks for bringing us these fantastic interviews and stories.
