Facial growth quickly healed
One morning, about three years ago, while shaving, I noticed that a small growth on my face had become quite noticeable. Although it didn't hurt, it was getting very unsightly. Whereas I hadn't been doing anything much about it, I knew I couldn't ignore it any longer. It was time that it was healed. Because I've relied on Christian Science for all kinds of healings throughout my life, I decided to choose prayer for healing in this case, too.
I started by researching references to the word blemish in the Bible. And I found this: "Whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer [to God]: for it shall not be acceptable for you" (Lev. 22:20). This led me to pray along the lines that the imperfection on my face was not satisfactory—to God or me. God is good, and He made me in His likeness. This blemish was not good. God did not create it. I did not have to accept it as part of my real being.
This way of thinking was reinforced by the words of a hymn: "Preserve the tablet of thy thoughts / From every blemish free" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 383). These words reminded me to keep my thoughts free of any blemish or impurity. I knew my state of thought determined my state of health. In my prayers, I maintained the realization that I was the pure child of God's creating. And I expected my prayers to result in health and harmony.
