A trip—and a healing—made possible by God
Originally published in Der Christian Science Herold
I'm very grateful for a healing I had when I attended an international youth meeting for college students in the summer of 1998 in the United Sates. This meeting, "Pioneers of the Spiritual Millennium," was of great help to me. Even in the preparation and registration phase, it became clear how much I was challenging myself by attending. When I first heard about the meeting, I thought, "That's not really my thing. I'm in the middle of exams, and anyway I didn't have the plane fare." But then I started reading more of the informational material and appreciating questions such as, "How can we better recognize the problems of the academic world, and heal them?" "What are our motives in the succeeding job-hunt?"
I noticed that deep down I had a burning interest in these questions. So I got going, in the sense that at least I no longer rejected the idea that I might attend. And I prayed and listened for God to give me a signal that I should go. I viewed my wish to attend in spite of all plausible reasons as a sort of angel—a divine thought, a message from God in and of itself, and not just my own idea.
Soon a way opened financially. And I was so happy to see what it meant to let go of my negative thoughts, and to trust in the unlimited possibilities of God.
