Road maps for a changing world

The Maps in this issue take us down new highways of thought. They point in the direction of change that is mental, to spiritual approaches in finding what much of the world seeks: life-purpose and divine guidance, success and happiness, peaceful international relations, health and healing.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures refers to "a traveller going westward for a pleasure-trip" who, "after following the sun for six days ... turns east on the seventh, satisfied if he can only imagine himself drifting in the right direction," tired as he is of illusive material pleasure. "By-and-by," the paragraph continues, "ashamed of his zigzag course, he would borrow the passport of some wiser pilgrim, thinking with the aid of this to find and follow the right road" (Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 21–22).

Individually, collectively, we've all had a similar itinerary at some point, and have searched for the road to peace of mind, to health, to meaningful purpose. One of the main goals of this magazine is to identify evidence of how people are recognizing God's ability to help them find this road—the transforming, beneficial power Mary Baker Eddy referred to as "the leaven of Truth."
