A one–word prayer: 'No!'

A high-school English teacher of mine was a specialist on Shakespeare. And when a student questioned whether Shakespeare had actually written his plays, our teacher responded, "Well, if Shakespeare didn't, it was somebody with the same name."

I thought of this remark recently while I was sitting in church, hearing read the prophet Isaiah's account of Jesus appearing on earth as the "Prince of Peace." You see, I have friends who seek the truth and who possess great spirituality, but don't believe in the historical Jesus. And yet, somehow, his words have endured through the centuries—and they are effective today. And I thought, if there wasn't a Jesus of Nazareth, then it must have been someone by the same name!

I have no doubt that Jesus lived and taught, because I have seen proof of the practicality of his teaching in my own life. In fact, I recently had an experience that demonstrates this. I had a physical healing that resulted from a prayer that was just one word long.
