Back injury healed quickly

One Saturday evening, more than 30 years ago, I was painting the walls of a bedroom. Just as I finished, I fell backward onto a gallon can of paint. The first thought that came to me was, "There are no accidents," which is based on a sentence in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that says, "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" (p. 424).

The pain in my back was extreme, but I crawled to another bedroom and called my sister, who was a Christian Science practitioner. All I said was, "Come, I fell." Ever since I was 12 years old, I have relied only on prayer to resolve every type of problem, including physical difficulties. So it was very natural for me to call my sister—I knew she would immediately begin praying with me.

When she arrived, she talked with me about God's love for me and of His presence right there with us. Supported by her reassurances, I lost my fear. She then called my daughter, who also came over to help. Together they tried to move me to a more comfortable position, but the pain was too much for me to bear.
