Feeling close to God brings healing
Reading the book Science and Health has brought healing into my life in so many ways.
After giving birth to my second son, I started experiencing back pain. If I worked even for just an hour, I would have to lie down and rest. In an effort to be free of the pain, I started to read Science and Health each day. I felt sure it would help me in this case, because the ideas in this book had helped and healed me many times before. Two statements were particularly helpful: "As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being" (p. 361); and "... like a ray of light which comes from the sun, man, the outcome of God, reflects God" (p. 250).
Every morning before going to work, I would pray and remind myself that God and I were inseparable—just like the sun and its rays are inseparable. The spiritual fact that I was God's child meant that I was at one with God's goodness—with health and freedom. There was no place for dark thoughts, pain, sickness, or problems in my life. God was taking care of me.
