A healing of diagnosed cancer
Prayer had brought me many healings through the years, and I had much cause to be grateful for Christian Science as a wonderful way of life. But a healing I had in 2001 took me to a new place in my spiritual understanding.
Early in my marriage, my husband, though supportive of my Christian Science faith, had asked if I would take a physical examination every year or so, just to assure him that all was well with my health. Since he had what seemed to be a good reason to request this, and as I was in good physical condition, I agreed. For many years, even after my husband's passing, I continued the annual check-ups, always getting the report that I was in excellent shape.
But then at one check-up, I was informed that there was a lump in my left breast, and a subsequent biopsy indicated I had breast cancer. The doctor prescribed two possible procedures—a surgical operation or radiation treatments, indicating that without one or the other, the condition could be fatal. Of course, I was devastated and fearful. But I dismissed the doctor and called a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me. She readily agreed to do so.
