Strep throat healed, along with painful regret
One afternoon at work I began to feel extremely feverish, and my throat became so painful I couldn't swallow. I had experienced these symptoms at other times in my life when I'd been diagnosed with strep throat.
I'd taken medicine at those other times. But this time I had been studying Christian Science, and because of that I wanted to seek a different kind of treatment—prayer. As the symptoms became increasingly more severe, I decided to leave work and go straight home to bed. I needed to pray immediately about this worsening condition.
Once at home and in bed, I pulled out my Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and various other books. I wasn't really sure how to begin, so I just closed my eyes and asked God to impart some kind of direction or message—any kind of inspiration—to let me know how to pray to heal myself. Not much happened.
