I never gave up
Lunchtime last week —and I was just about to walk across Massachusetts Avenue. I saw that the pedestrian light had begun to flash "DON'T WALK," so I ran across, making it in plenty of time before the light turned red. Life as usual, right?
But not too long ago I wouldn't have been able to run across that street. In fact, I couldn't walk at all. Last May I started to bleed more than was normal for a menstrual cycle. At first, I thought it was just that—a problem with menstruation that had somehow gotten out of whack. But I realized very quickly that I was bleeding much too much and much too quickly. Furthermore, I had had no history of menstrual irregularity in the preceding several years.
Because I was losing a lot of blood quickly, I saw that I needed emergency help. I knew I had a choice—I could go to a medical emergency room or I could choose Christian Science treatment. I'd had enough healings since I first learned of Christian Science 13 years earlier to know that the most effective treatment I could have was through prayer.
