Pray about teeth? A childhood without braces

Our family dentist called me into the examining room where my six-year-old son sat after his first cleaning. "Look at this," he said, holding an X-ray up to the light. I looked at the dentist's face instead. His expression was pretty serious. "You'd better save your shekels," he said kindly, and then announced, "This kid is going to need braces."

"What?" I wasn't expecting this. The way he'd said it made it sound like a done deal.

"Why?" I asked.
