It didn't have to run its course

Last fall my baby daughter, Haley, and I both came down with cold symptoms. As a life-long Christian Scientist, I was used to praying for myself whenever I was sick. However, although both my husband and I had been praying for Haley's well-being since before she was born, it was a new experience to be praying for her when she wasn't feeling well.

Science and Health says, "If the case is that of a young child or an infant, it needs to be met mainly through the parent's thought, silently or audibly on the aforesaid basis of Christian Science" (p. 412).

I knew I had several thoughts about this situation that needed healing. First was my feeling of guilt that my daughter had caught this from me. Worrying about this was not helping her, but instead was hindering her healing.
