A CARING RESPONSE to a nation at half–mast

ON THE AFTERNOON of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., Sentinel Radio gathered three Christian Science healers to discuss a spiritual response to terrorism. Associate Editor of Broadcasting, Russ Gerber, spoke with Mary Trammell, editor–in–chief of this publication and a Christian Science practitioner; Walter Jones, also a practitioner and treasurer of The First Church of Christ, Scientist; and Nate Talbot, a practitioner from Idaho. This Sentinel Radio interview can be heard on the Internet at www.tfccs.com. Excerpts follow.

Russ Gerber: Do you have any words of comfort for families and friends of those who lost their lives in this recent tragedy, as well as in other recent attacks and violence throughout the world?

Walter Jones: My thought initially went to the Sermon on the Mount. The words of Jesus, who was making a very comforting statement: "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." There is a source of comfort that we can all feel, a sense of God's love that can transcend the events of this day.
