Win the battle against sickness

God is always on your side.

One spring weekend, I visited the battlefield at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where Abraham Lincoln gave his world-famous address. Only in my imagination could I sense what the soldiers who fought in that Civil War battle might have experienced—the fear, anger, confusion, resentment, and maybe numbness from being so frightened. Then I realized that these feelings were very similar to those felt by people who are diagnosed with or struggling with a disease.

Yet even in the most difficult times, we can find the way to fight and to defend our freedom, to break away from the bondage of sickness. The way is spiritual.

Psalm 91 says, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (verse 1). This secret place is the divine presence, God. Christ Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God ..." (Matt. 6:33).
