Children recover quickly from flu
My two children were very young when the words Asian flu first appeared all over the news media in the United States. Very soon my infant son and three-year-old daughter became ill with the advertised symptoms of this disease.
I quickly recognized that I needed to turn my thoughts wholly God-ward, so that I would know what was really going on right now in this situation. I had learned early to trust in an all-loving, all-powerful Father-Mother God, as demonstrated so dynamically in the healing works of Christ Jesus. As I held to this concept of our creator, and His perfect creation, my daughter was quickly healed of all symptoms of flu.
My son, however, became increasingly distressed in the following days. I telephoned for help from a Christian Science practitioner. One evening when I was alone with the two children, after putting my daughter to bed for the night, I went to my son's crib. I picked him up and sat rocking him in the chair in his room. I reached out to God in prayer, humbly and desperately: "Dear Father, please help us!" Very soon the words of the poem "Mother's Evening Prayer" by Mary Baker Eddy (Poems,p. 4) came to me. The first and second verses read:
