Prayer heals axe wound
One day I was helping a friend remove a lot of young Eucalyptus tree re-growth from his property. We were working together, enjoying each other's company, when the axe I was swinging glanced off a nearby tree. The handle struck my leg with great force, producing an open wound.
I immediately declared that there could be no accidents under God's government. Then I thought of "the scientific statement of being" found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. It begins: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." And it concludes: "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual" (p. 468).
This made me realize that I could not be injured, because God is taking care of me. As the spiritual likeness of God, I was not subject to accidents. This thought brought me relief. I was able to continue the work with my friend until we got the job finished.
