Healed of nicotine addiction

Early in 1972 I was listening to different talks on religion on the radio. One day a programme came on called "The Truth that Heals." It told about spiritual healing and sounded wonderful. I decided to set the alarm clock each Sunday afternoon so I wouldn't miss it.

On the third Sunday after I'd started listening to it just when it was ready to begin, I noticed that my cigarette packet was empty, and I wondered how I could sit and listen for half an hour without a smoke. But I switched it on anyway.

On the programme this statement was read from Science and Health: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (p. 468). I was astounded, since I knew that something was telling my body I needed a cigarette, but the speakers on the programme were saying the body has no intelligence to speak for itself. So I asked myself, "What is telling me I need a cigarette?" When I received no answer, I decided to listen intently, in case the speakers told about a healing of smoking, but the speakers just told about bodily healings such as those of broken bones.
