Healing following an accident with a horse
Many years ago I went on a horseback ride with a friend I knew from church. When we came to a tree stump, my horse, Peanut, refused to go past it, so I dismounted and tried to lead him past. The horse shied away from the stump. The stump was on his right, and I was on his left, so he ran over me in his attempt to escape.
For a few moments, I lay quietly where I had fallen, understanding that I could always avail myself of God's care. Then I got up and waved to my companion to show her that I was fine. I was sure that she was also praying, and felt that her supportive thought helped to restore my own sense of well-being. She told me that the situation had appeared frightening, and she was grateful that I was uninjured.
We continued our ride and had a wonderful time. On our way home we came to a spot that looked familiar, and I said to my friend, "Wasn't that stump we just passed the one that Peanut shied at?" She confirmed that it was. The horse had gone right by it without any indication of fear.
