To Our Readers

"Punch Him In the nose!" Ted's dad told him. "Mark will keep on hitting you until you show him who's boss. Walk back across that street and punch him in the nose!!"

So, with tears in his eyes, that's what Ted did. Mark, of course, was astonished. He never expected this kindergartner to face off against a first-grader who was two inches taller than he. And he was evidently impressed. From that day forward, as long as the boys lived across the street from each other, Mark never bullied Ted again.

In a sense, it looked as if justice had been done. But had it really? And, even though the bullying stopped, was what happened an ideal solution? No. Things were strained between the boys—and their families—for years.
