Dear Sentinel
I was at school playing "capture the flag" when I got hit in the eye. I went to the school nurse, and I was afraid I was going to be blind. I prayed for ten minutes, knowing that God is Love. The nurse was kind. She called my mom and I talked to her. I wondered if I should stay at school or go home. My mom told me that God was with me everywhere, even at school. She said she would come and get me if I wanted to go home, but I decided to stay at school for the rest of the day. When I got home, my eye was red and sore inside, but by the next day the redness and pain were completely gone.
Asher Severini
Princeton, New Jersey
When Asher called me from school, it was apparent that he was more disturbed by the reaction of the people around him than by the injury itself. I told him that we could hear what God was telling us and that we shouldn't be concerned with what others were thinking. We also talked about how God was with him wherever he was, at home or at school. Asher was familiar with these ideas, since he was learning about them in Sunday School as well as at home. He listened quietly, and then told me he'd like to stay at school. I spoke to the nurse, who was glad to hear that Asher felt better.
