Prayer for peace
Oh God,
help Hagar stop her weeping
and Sarah begin to laugh once more.
Cause Isaac and Ishmael to meet
and recognize one another
by the "Well of a living One, my Seer."*
Help Jacob and Esau embrace each other
in a mutual gift of brotherly love.
Cause Rachel to return
from the road to Rama, comforted.
Oh God,
may the Comforter take her hand
and lead her where her children are.
You, who in the beginning caused the waters to recede,
now, extinguish the fire . . .
Let us release the dove
that it may never return!
