What are you entertaining?

Kick out unhealthy thoughts—and find healing.

When An Unexpected guest comes to visit, most likely you invite him or her in and you might say hospitably, "Sit down. Where have you come from? How long are you staying? What would you like to do during your visit? Here, have some refreshment." Has it ever occurred to you that we sometimes treat difficulties and discord just as hospitably?

To feelings of sickness, for example, we might say, "Oh my, where have you come from? How did I catch you? How long are you going to stay? And what are you going to do to my body while you're here?" Like watering a plant, this kind of attention to the difficulty encourages its growth. Instead, we should dismiss the intrusion and replace it with the truth of being.

What do I mean by "the truth of being"? It's the truth of what God is and what He knows about you. True health—health that is constant, not ebbing and flowing—comes from God. Christ Jesus knew that God is good, and he healed on that basis. He said, "There is none good but one, that is, God" (Mark 10:18). We are actually spiritual and perfect, made by God in His likeness, so we are harmonious through and through, without sickness, fault, or fear.
