Yielding to God's will cures serious illness
I was thinking about a change in my living arrangements that would have taken me to a different part of the country. I was not unhappy where I lived, but it seemed as though it would be pleasant to have a change of scenery. Also, I had some very good friends in this new area. When a condominium opened up, completely furnished and at a price I could afford, it seemed that everything was falling into place so harmoniously.
However, shortly after I sent my friends money to purchase this property, I became extremely ill. I went to a nearby Christian Science nursing facility. In praying to restore my sense of well-being, it became clear to me that the move I had been contemplating was not the Father's plan, but my own human will pulling me into a change of location. A passage from Science and Health came to thought: "It is unwise to doubt if reality is in perfect harmony with God, divine Principle,—if Science, when understood and demonstrated, will destroy all discord,—since you admit that God is omnipotent; for from this premise it follows that good and its sweet concords have all-power" (p. 130).
As I became humble enough to accept this truth and seek to follow God's will for me, which I knew would always be good, I was healed, and left the facility in less than a week. An added blessing for me followed soon thereafter, when I purchased a new home, close to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and with a lovely outlook over a golf course.
