Feeling God's presence ends pain
I first became acquainted with Christian Science through wonderful messages I read in the windows of Christian Science Reading Rooms. I would remember them at times when I needed them most. Last summer, while working next door to a Reading Room, I investigated Christian Science more fully. I began reading Science and Health and eventually attended church services. Since that time of discovering Christian Science, there have been many healings. The most recent healing prompted my writing to testify.
I was cooking one afternoon and was using a blender to chop cilantro. Without thinking, I used my hand to push it down into the blender. The tips of two of my fingers got caught in the blade and were seriously cut. Immediately I clenched my fist and remembered there is no accident with God. God is Love. Yet fear consumed me and the pain became intense. I called a Christian Science practitioner. She prayed, and I immediately felt God's presence with me. I read some passages from Science and Health and several hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. A friend came over and helped me bandage my fingers. The entire time, I felt God's presence. The pain was totally lifted, even through the night. When the image of what had happened came to mind, I reminded myself that it was an illusion, a dream. I affirmed that God's love heals.
