YOUR LETTERS

"Each publication is read by many people, and it still amazes me that the ink is not worn off."

After reading the letter "Sentinel widely shared . . ." (July 5, 1999) concerning the author's donation to Texas prisoners, I offer my praise and thanks to all those kind people who donate. I am a prisoner who receives the word of hope published by The Christian Science Publishing Society.

I am contained in an environment devoid of all positive energy and thought. But every Friday my copy of the Sentinel arrives, and sometimes I am not the first to read it or even the third. Because I am legally blind, I rely on others to read it to me.

In prison, there are so many people who have lost their physical freedom who search desperately for spiritual guidance, which the Sentinel provides every week. Due to the kindness of strangers, I receive not only the Sentinel, but the Christian Science Quarterly Weekly Bible Lessons and The Christian Science Journal as well. Each publication is read by many people, and it still amazes me that the ink is not worn off. The prisoners understand the generosity and kindness of those who give, and we share in order to stretch the resources so that all may enjoy.
