Prejudice healed; effects of an accident overcome

Having been brought up in a time when much criticism of one certain church was commonly heard, I thought I was justified in being critical, too. What gentle molding of my thought has come through the years as our Father-Mother God, divine Love, has corrected me.

When I fell and needed help to get onto my feet, who came running to help? My next-door neighbor, a member of "that" church. When I was involved in a fine community project, who impressed me by her unselfish and frequent contributions of caring? Yes, another member of "that" church. Wasn't I being prepared to discover and appreciate a wonderful statement of wisdom by Mary Baker Eddy in her book Christian Science versus Pantheism? She states: "Love all Christian churches for the gospel's sake; and be exceedingly glad that the churches are united in purpose, if not in method, to close the war between flesh and Spirit, and to fight the good fight till God's will be witnessed and done on earth as in heaven" (p. 13). I never cease to be grateful for Mrs. Eddy's love for all mankind, and for her infinite patience in awakening all of us to learn and to practice the healing touch of the Christ.

A few years ago, a challenging experience proved to be a wonderful blessing in disguise, as well as a learning time for me, showing me that "with God all things are possible" (Mark 10:27). The first part of what follows is what my family later told me, because I was unconscious, in a coma, and had no clear recall for about a week.
